Historical Information
Built by John B. "Jack" Eames in 1951. "Jack" was known as "The Dean of New England Motion Picture Exhibitors", operating theaters in several local towns through his Interstate Amusement Company. The building featured a modern 800 seat movie theater, The Jax Jr. Cinema, commercial storefronts and office space on the second floor. In 1981, the Jax Jr. Cinema posted a message on the marquee "Closed we're having twins". The theater was split into two cinemas. Today the theater features state of the art Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Sound, new high back rocking chairs, digital pre-show trivia, and a beautiful neon marquee. The building has received two New Hampshire Main Street Awards for the remodeling work to the theater and to the second floor office space.
